Rotary D6000 GSE Team Adventures
Sunday February 28th

Kyla Kiester - Team Member:  Today the wonderful people of Rosanna Rotary took us on an adventure around Port Phillip Bay, the main entrance into Melbourne.  From Melbourne we drove around the east side of the bay to Portsea, which is a beautiful little town with brilliant blue waters where many Australian’s “go on holiday.”  We had lunch at the Portsea Pub, and then ventured down to the beach to dip our toes.  I haven’t seen water that isn’t frozen in months!  We then boarded a ferry (car and all) to cross the water into Queenscliff where we stopped for afternoon coffee.  We then continued up the west side of the bay through Geelong and back around to Melbourne.  It was a long but adventurous day and we are so grateful to our Rosanna hosts for treating us all day long!

This evening we are resting with our host families and gearing up for our first big day of vocational visits.  They have arranged for me to spend half a day at a local hospital and I am very much looking forward to “talking shop” with Australian healthcare folks.

A couple of additional notes: On Saturday morning Julie and I found a fitness center to work out at, where the most difficult part was telling the eliptical machine how much we weighed in kilograms.

At our BBQ on Saturday evening Peter welcomed us in true Australian fashion by making all of us try vegemite before we were allowed to have dessert.  Rita and Natasha actually liked it…..  I have to say I thought it was better than expected, but not as good as I’d hoped.  :)
